GENERAL NEWS

Papal Visit. It will be possible to attend 2 Papal Services. The Hyde Park Prayer Vigil on Saturday 18th September, early evening ending at 9pm (cost £10 not including travel) and the Beatification Mass of Cardinal Newman at Cofton Park, Birmingham on Sunday 19th September, 9.30 am (cost £30 including coach which will collect from Burnham). The Parish has been allocated tickets for both events. If you wish to go, please sign the list in the church porch as soon as possible. (Fr Tibor)

Missio/APF. Brother Eddie & Kate Wiltshire send a big thank you for the response to the Appeal. 24 parishioners joined the scheme. Trip to Steepholme. West Somerset Catenians are organising a trip to Steepholme on Thursday 12th August. The landing craft leaves Underhill (not Weston) at 10.30 a.m. and arrives back at 7.30 pm. The cost is £25 with no concessions. The crossing takes about 90 minutes each way. The trip is only for the physically fit because though the top is quite flat, the path is steep. Diocesan Certificate in Pastoral Liturgy: a new 2 year course starts this September. No previous qualifications required, just a love of liturgy! Information leaflets & application forms available in church porches or tel 01275 851591.

Rooted in Christ is a Diocesan course to deepen our faith and give us confidence to hand on what we have received. It is based at Holy Family, Patchway, October 2010 - July 2011. Please see posters in church porches for more details.

Date for your Diary, Friday 15th October, 7pm; Simon Small will talk on “Exploring New Age Spirituality: a personal journey”. Simon worked for 10 years as an Anglican priest. Before ordination he explored modern spirituality including New Age & Eastern traditions.
