St Peter & St Paul Both apostles were called by Jesus personally.


Peter's call:

He walked up to Peter and said to him follow me! And he did.
He never told us why. We have two letters ofhis in the Bible but he did not mention his reasons for leaving his family and job andjoin this group oftravellers. He lived and worked with Jesus for three years and then he was named an apostle.


Paul's call:

Paul was not even called by a man walking by but by a voice from the sky. But he told us that he was affected so much by it that he went away for three years and worked on it. Then he returned to society and began to work as an apostle of Jesus.


Difficulties:

Their lives were not easy they were opposed, ridiculed
threatened, imprisoned and finally executed.


The Church today:

But the result of their work IS US being here,
gathering to listen to the word of God,
to share the one bread and wine in memory of Jesus,
trying to live by his commandments, tiying to be good followers of his.
