Jesus was speaking very plainly to the disciples.
He was giving them simple, good news that they should have known by then:
that being with Jesus was the same as being with God.
The way Jesus looked and lived was the way God looked and lived on earth.
What Jesus said and the way he said it was the way God spoke on earth.
He told the disciples that, when they were with him, they were in the company of God,
they heard and saw God.
It was as simple as that.
He told them also that if they truly believed in him they would he able
to perform the same miracles as he did.
He would support their work from heaven.
At the end of their lives and our life he would come back for us and take us were he is so that we may be where he is.
Very simple.
No more parables, no more difficult-to-understand statements but simple
and easy to understand talk.
The only obstacle between God’s simplicily and us is our complicated selves.
We have ourselves to overcome before we can embrace God’s simplicity.
St Peter told us that we are a chosen race, a royal priesthood and a consecrated nation.
It is up to us to take this as being in dizzy heights or in everyday sainthood.
The apostIes established their priority of spreading the Word of God over
charitable and social work. This must be the parish priest’s priority too
The apostles appointed the deacons; here in the parish we have many volunteers to do all
the work that needs doing.
We are a Christian community and God is with us.
Thank you for all you do.
