Wednesday evenings

June 18th and 25th, July 2nd, 9th and 16th

Croquet enthusiasts and shoe and boot sales persons will be equally delighted to learn that the Fairview Farm Croquet Lawns are already - even so early in the season - almost fully restored to the remarkable playing conditions that we all enjoyed so much last year!

No words can adequately describe the keenness of the interest which there has been in the possibility of actually playing a game of croquet in these ancient and hollowed grounds.

I regret that because of the limitations of time and space it is not possible here to write all the many and various comments – even those which are repeatable - that were made after last years’ matches by both winners and runners up. However for any prospective new players it is sufficient to say that you can expect an unimaginable experience of unspeakable sporting challenge in surroundings and on lawns of a standard that you would never have expected possible for such an occasion.

Over the winter season, rabbits, hares, squirrels, badgers, rooks, foxes, deer, woodpeckers and lesser other interested parties have all inspected the lawns very closely and most have made minor alterations and adjustments to the playing surface.

Various cars, trailers and a land-rover have helped to maintain the particularly interesting nuisances nuances of the distinctly unique venue.  A small bonfire on court number one has also left a distinctive feature which will help both skilled and inexperienced players equally to enjoy their game.

Anyone who would like a FREE pre-tournament warm-up game is welcome to come on Friday 6th June
